Friday came and went with car rides, Chick-Fil-A, and lots of chatter. We all woke up Saturday excited to start our Day of Service. Breakfast was quickly eaten and lunches packed. Four middle school and one high school group were joined by old and new PA friends. We split up into our groups and headed out to 5 different sites to Serve. Our high school team went into Philadelphia to work on Youth With a Mission's (YWAM) new-to-them building. It was an old five-story dormitory that needs renovation. Students spent the day painting walls, laying down carpet squares, assembling new tables and chairs, moving out old furniture and cleaning the first floor of the building. They got to learn about YWAM's mission and about the work that will be done in the building they worked in. They worked so hard and made a lot of progress on the building! One middle school team went to Narenj Tree for the third year and a row. They sorted and folded clothes for refugees. The other three teams stayed at hope and tackled projects. One group helped clean and organize the kids@youth Sunday School rooms. Another worked with the facilities manager and cleaned , moved , and built some furniture. The last group tied blankets for a Maggies Ministry which helps kids in the hospital. Two groups then combined after lunch and created signs for Night to Shine . The afternoon kicked off with showers, which led into worship , dinner, shopping and games. Everyone is tucked in for bed looking forward to tomorrow.
